Wendy Helker has been an elementary school teacher, a professional school counselor, a community counselor, an adjunct professor at the University of North Texas and at Texas Woman’s University, and is currently in private practice in Texas. Wendy presents on a variety of topics that are pertinent to children and families but became aware of Sensory Processing Disorder about 5 years ago when two of her sons were diagnosed with Sensory Processing Disorder. Since then, Wendy began to recognize how prevalent SPD is and how essential it is that play therapists understand how SPD affects children and their families and impacts the therapist’s clinical understanding and treatment.
