Dr. Hugh Crethar is an Associate Professor in Counseling Psychology. Hugh received his PhD in Counseling Psychology from the University of Oklahoma in 1997. He currently holds the positions of the Jacques Flanery Community Counseling Endowed Professor in the School of Community Health Sciences, Counseling & Counseling Psychology Area Coordinator and Chair of the Institutional Review Board (IRB) for Oklahoma State University. Hugh is actively involved in research on multicultural and social justice competence, excellence in counselor training, integration of contextual factors in wellness, play therapy, LGBTQQI issues in counseling, and body image. He has served in numerous positions within the American Counseling Association (ACA) including serving as the 2007-2008 President of Counselors for Social Justice and the 2013-2014 President of the Association for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Issues in Counseling and the Governing Council of ACA.
